I never thought I’d get here, but after this, what is it?, about 4 months of blogging, it seems quite realistic. I’ve grown a year older in that time, I’ve had an assessment and passed with flying colours, and entered a competition. Theres much more besides but I can’t remember them right now. I’m going to use this oppurtunity to talk about how I feel about blogging.
It all started with Alan Fletcher, whilst doing my foundation course I was a very naive Graphic Designer, I didn’t have a clue what the grid was, I didn’t know how to use indesign, thought that all design work was carried out on photoshop, I hadn’t even heard of Stefan Sagmeister, Jan Tschichold or Alan Fletcher. It sounds like a long time ago but it was a mere 2 years ago that I was just about to embark on my final major project (and what a catastrophie that was!?) My tutor mentioned Alan Fletcher to me, I didn’t know who this guy was, so in true foundation fashion, I searched the internet, to find little or no information about him anywhere, until I came across ‘noisy decent graphics’ and Ben’s article “Inside 50 years of work (and play)” and discovered blogging, I’ve been reading away ever since and I’ve longed to write my own blog until about 4 months ago when someone told me how to, then the rest is history.
Now, I think that it is important for graphic design students as well as everyone else to enter the world of blogging. I am, as a student, learning everyday, and while writing notes in a refill pad and storing them in a lever arch file is the thrill of my life! I find that writing just a short piece about what you’ve learned today is much more beneficial. Being a creative, we don’t write academic essays for a living so it keeps me writing as well as keeping me thinking about what I’ve learned and what I intend on learning.
More importantly however, It’s great to see what other students and other designers are looking at. It’s all part of the learning process. The only problem that I have at the moment is remembering to write, when you’ve got lots of ideas flowing round your head and lots of work to do, it’s hard to remember that little blog that you write in once in a while.
The great nature of blogging is that you can add to it after you’ve gone away for a cuppa!

Yeah. the right decision, well you will learn extremely more when you will get in your professional life you will find totally different from your educational life.
